Driscoll’s Season’s Finest Giveaway

March 18, 2011

The other day I told you guys that when you sign up for Driscoll’s emails, you get a $0.50/1 coupon good on any of the delicious berries that Driscoll’s offer.

Well I just found out that Driscoll’s offer limited edition, “Season’s Finest” berries. They are indeed the “Season’s Finest” because they are larger than normal, are noticeably more red and definitely sweeter – all because nature provided the perfect growing conditions.

These limited quantity jewels are available at Kroger locally in the cities below and will be available for just about five more weeks.

  • Dallas – Kroger SW
  • Houston – Kroger SW
  • Denver – Kroger King Soopers
  • Seattle – Kroger – QFC
  • Cincinnati -Kroger Shelbyville (Cincinnati)
  • Detroit – Kroger Columbus (Detroit)
  • Wichita – Kroger Dillon’s
  • Topeka, KS – Kroger Dillon’s

Fresh, juicy and wholesome – a delightful experience from Driscoll’s Farmers to your table. They are easy to spot too with an eye-catching purple label.

I don’t know about you guys, but berries are a must have at my house!  We use them to make everything from main dishes, smoothies, muffins, pancakes and even just plain as a snack!   This is one of my favorite times of the year, berries are a great price! I do a lot of cooking with berries and other fruits so I love to be able to bring out some of my favorite recipes while the price is right!!

Driscoll’s berries are currently 2/$5 at Kroger which is a great price but… I think FREE is even better! The folks at Driscoll’s are giving FIVE I Heart Kroger readers a coupon for $5 off Driscoll’s products.

Entry is simple! You just need to answer the question below by leaving a comment on this site! You can gain up to 2 bonus entries for doing each additional item listed (just make sure that you leave one entry for each one — up to a total of 3 comments.) As a reminder, comments left on Facebook, Twitter or other posts will not be included.  I will choose five winners on Wednesday  3/23 around 11pm.

  9. Nikki E says:

I’m sure Driscolls has tons of great recipes, but our favorite thing to do is purchase blue berries and put them in our pancakes. Instead of stirring them in, after you place your batter on the skillet, you just drop them right on top and then flip when ready. They burst in your mouth and are delicious!

Any berry makes a great sauce; 1 quart of berries 1/4c sugar 1T lemon juice, whirl in a food processor and push through a mesh strainer to get the seeds out. I love raspberry sauce on cheesecake, strawberry on poundcake and blueberry on vanilla ice cream. It only takes 10 minutes to make a great sauce that will make a wonderful dessert look like a 5-star restaurant.

Also, I have nothing but goos things to say about berry sorbet, so definitely think of that on those hot summer days.

My favorite thing about berries is making smoothies! I’m pregnant more often than not, and making smoothies is a great, quick way for me to start my mornings before running around with the kids and making my daily trip to Kroger. Driscoll berries are my favorite because they don’t rot as quickly as other brands, and they’re the perfect size! My favorite smoothie recipe calls for:

    1/2 cup cut, frozen strawberries
    1/2 cup blueberries
    2 teaspoons agave nectar
    1 teaspoon ground flax seeds
    1/2 cup Greek yogurt.
    1/2 a frozen banana.

I just mix everything up in the blender, and it’s a great breakfast for my kids and me!

    2 1/3 c. Bisquick
    1/2 c. milk
    4 tbsp. sugar
    3 tbsp. butter, melted
2 tbsp. sugar (for sprinkling on top)

Mix first 4 ingredients, pour into greased square pan or muffin tray. Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake at 425 degrees 10 to 20 minutes, cool and cut. Makes 9 servings.
